The popularity of the Witterings has increased steadily amongst holiday-makers and water-sports enthusiasts.

Thus, especially on hot weekends, our residents have been inconvienced by inconsiderate non-owner, non-guest, car-parkers.

So we have been forced to introduce self-protective measures.

Our road is private and vehicular access is restricted to owners, their invited guests, and tradespeople working on their behalf.

There is no public parking in our road. The nearest car park is at East Wittering.

The nearest way to the beach is via the ‘twitten’ extension to the sea end of Jolliffe Road.

On hot summer holiday season weekends the gate to Marine Drive West is closed under the supervision of a security company paid for by owners through MDWRA.

We issue parking permits to all owners to give them and their visitors hassle-free access.

If you are a guest during this period, please ask your host to provide you with a permit in advance, by e-mail or post, to display under the windscreen on your vehicle dashboard.

If you're without a permit, please allow time for the security guard to check your name against the guest list, or to contact your host.

Your patience is appreciated in the interests of preventing incidents where cars have been parked illegitimately, blocking owner access.

There are speed bumps, and the speed limit must be observed.

Dogs must be kept on leads and any faeces dropped must be removed.
