Welcome to Marine Drive West, our little piece of paradise! This cul-de-sac is the continuation of Marine Drive once it's crossed Jolliffe Road, and has just 65 properties.
To the North the view is towards the South Downs and Goodwood Racecourse can be seen on a clear day. To the South is the beautiful West Wittering beach with the Solent and the Isle of Wight beyond.
There is a section for Visitors which includes links to other towns nearby, but the main purpose of this website is as a resource for the current owners of properties in Marine Drive West, which is a private road.
As such there is a password-protected ‘Owners’ section which contains documents confidential to them.
The password is renewed on payment of the annual subscription to MDWRA. If a password reminder is needed, please apply using the form below.
While ownership is relatively stable, with some properties in the same family for generations, each year a few sales occur.
These give rise to enquiries by prospective buyers and professional advisers, especially with regard to the private ownership of the road and its verges.
To facilitate the due diligence process, and to reduce the adminstrative burden on the Committee, there is a ‘Buyers’ section containing the documents most frequently requested.
This section is private and a time-limited password can be requested by using the form.

Each owner of a MDW property is also an owner of Marine Drive West Road Association Ltd. This company owns the 'Road', which includes both the tarmac laid upon it, and the verges on either side.

The role of the Marine Drive West Road Association, founded on 30th June 1963, is to raise the money to maintain the integrity of the tarmac, and to care for and prevent encroachment upon the verges, so that all our owners may have proper access to their properties.
It does so by charging each owner an annual subscription which is set at the AGM. The money goes into a sinking fund to carry out regular repairs, and ultimately to re-lay the tarmac should it become necessary. Other costs are kept to the minimum in order to keep the annual subscription at a modest level – for 2023-4 it is £70.
The elected Committee and Directors members work for the owners on a purely voluntary basis. Apart from managing the annual subscription process, the main workload involves answering questions from potential buyers, their solicitors, and others involved in the purchase or sale of a property. Hence the password-protected section for potential owners, accessible on application via the form above.
